I am proud to be a Florida Hospital nurse for the past 28 years. The cardiovascular progressive unit that I work on is like a second family to me. During the last few years, I have coordinated many bake sales, fundraisers, and meals for delivery to help my colleagues who were ill or out of work for long periods of time. I know how hard it can be to manage finances during times of illness, given some of the financial hardships my family has endured due to medical problems. I believe the same principle should be applied to my patients. I have organized a collection of used, clean clothing for patients, particularly the indigent and homeless, upon discharge so that they may leave with their health and clean clothes on their backs. Over the last two years, my unit and I have provided dinners and collected large amounts of non-perishable foods and toiletries to donate to the Ronald McDonald House, Lisa Merlin House, and the Beta House.
